Everyone else

People in general.  Since everyone uses and depends on information to some extent, information security is clearly important to us all.  Cybersecurity is obviously essential for our computing devices and information services, plus those on which our critical suppliers rely ... which these days means everything in modern post-industrial information society. Even low-tech or no-tech activities, organisations and services utilise information in various forms, ranging from the spoken or written word to pheremones and DNA.

The book has value for:

  • Making sense of assorted advisories, notices, pronouncements, reports and warnings about information security, privacy, safety, identity fraud and all that jazz.

  • Understanding the terminology, its origins, meanings and implications.

  • Challenging, finding discrepancies, pushing back and posing legitimate questions of those who claim to know about this stuff and to be protecting our interests.

  • Spotting potential phishers, scammers, fraudsters and other social engineers a mile off, with an appreciation of how they work - the tricks and curious turns of language they typically use.

  • Helping family members, friends and colleagues become more cyber-savvy, security-literate and safe.
