Both of them: two reviews so far, less than a month after the book was released.
I invite and welcome but don't 'commission' book reviews.
I am keen to receive 100% genuine comments and feedback about the Cybersecurity Hyperglossary from actual readers, no-holds-barred. If it shines, tell me. If it sucks, tell me. If something doesn't work for you, or doesn't suit your particular needs and preferences, let me know.
Direct feedback plus reader reviews on sites such as Amazon give me strong clues about the book's strengths and weaknesses - golden nuggets of information that feed into my future plans and research for the book.
I'm thinking forward. Should I invest my time and effort in maintaining, revising and updating the manuscript, perhaps publishing a second edition, or pack it in as a dead loss ... and go fishing instead?
Seriously, what do you think: fish or work?
It took me years to compile and publish the first edition - literally hundreds of hours, possibly more than a thousand in total. Admittedly, it started as a personal project, something that helped me keep in touch with developments in the field and understand the evolving lingo. The decision to go into print, though, was not taken lightly by me or by the publisher: there is a substantial investment in any book, both financial and emotional, a team effort with an uncertain (=risky!) result.
So, the more you can tell me about your impressions of the book, the better. Good, bad or indifferent, all honest opinions are valuable for me, improvement suggestions especially so.
I still have the scaly thickened skin of a technology auditor - that's me, in remission, not the skin of some unfortunate auditor who was too direct with me, too honest. So go right ahead. Make my day.
